The RAW4RES project, presented by BSC, garnered attention from Slovenian ministries, public research bodies, and NGOs involved in strategic planning for Critical Raw Materials mining and recycling.

Our project partner BSC Kranj, presented the RAW4RES initiative at the Public consultation event on the implementation of the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, the first of a series of meetings, hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, with the Geological Survey of Slovenia on the 29th of March 2024.

During the event, representatives from four relevant ministries outlined their strategies, forthcoming actions and measures to be taken aiming  to jointly enhance strategic research and implementation projects of national importance in CRMs' extraction, processing and recycling.

The Geological Survey of Slovenia and the National Building and Civil Engineering Institute spotlighted the untapped potential of mining and recovering critical minerals from secondary sources.

Subsequently, an open exchange of recommendations commenced, focusing on policy measures that could effectively bolster research and business growth in mining and recycling. Emphasis was placed on adopting green technologies, embracing circular economy models, and fostering community engagement practices. These discussions aimed to identify policy instruments that could integrate these measures meaningfully.

The event concluded with enriching presentations on ongoing EU projects aimed at enhancing the resilience of CRMs value chains. Among these, RAW4RES project was presented by Mr. Gregor Erznožnik, the project manager from BSC Kranj.
