About this good practice
ZEOS was established on the basis of the requirements of Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on waste electrical and electronic equipment of 27th January 2003 and the decision of manufacturers/acquirers/importers of electricity equipment in Slovenia to fulfil their environmental obligations arising from the so-called extended producer responsibilities are fulfilled in the form of a joint scheme.
Throughout the entire period of operation so far, the company has focused primarily on long-term stability and cost-effective achievement of goals. Not only did they succeed in establishing an efficient and comprehensive process of extended responsibility in the field of waste electrical and electronic equipment, in 2009 they continued their successful path in the field of handling waste batteries and accumulators, in 2013 they supplemented the company’s activities and founded their subsidiary ZEOS eco-system in Sarajevo. In addition to the effective management of processes for handling e-waste, waste batteries and waste grave candles and ensuring their stability, they also devote a lot of attention to educating and raising awareness among the citizens of Slovenia about the correct handling of this type of waste.
