On 3 June from 10:00 to 12:00 CET, the Policy Learning Platform will host a webinar as part of the #EUGreenWeek on smart and green local agri-food value chains.

What can you expect

The transition to a smart and green European food system is central to the EU Green Deal.

The EU Farm to Fork Strategy published on 20 May 2020 highlights the importance of local agri-food value chains. The importance of a smart and resilient food system became even more evident during the Covid-19 crisis and more recently with the war in Ukraine.

The supply of local quality affordable food and the issues around the sustainable livelihood of farmers were put in the spotlight at a time when international and even national supply chains were disrupted.

Below you can find an overview of what you can expect during our webinar.

You will be welcomed by the Policy Learning Platform management team and the thematic experts Marc Pattinson and Arnault Morisson.

Our thematic experts will then introduce you to the concept of smart and green local agri-food value chains, the EU Farm to Fork Strategy, and the services offered by the Platform.

Elvira Domingo, Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) Programme manager, EIT Food will hold a presentation on the topic of 'how to design smart and green local agri-food value chains?'.

Rosinda Pimenta from the Interreg Europe project CITYZEN will present the good practice 'Urban Farming in Beja - Mértola Food Network'.

Vasiliki Papadopoulou from the Interreg Europe project RUMORE will present the good practice 'Fresh Fruit Pilot Project in Italy and Greece'.

After the presentations by the speakers, the audience will have the chance to ask questions and possibly start a discussion.
