Call for peers - River restoration and blue-green infrastructure

In the context of an upcoming interregional peer review for the Municipality of Alba Iulia (Romania), we are looking for experts on river restoration, blue-green infrastructure and stakeholder collaboration. The peer review is scheduled on 24-25 June 2025 in Leuven and Ghent, Belgium.
Our latest peer review supports the Municipality of Alba Iulia (Romania), a city surrounded by three major rivers. Despite this natural advantage, the rivers remain largely underused and disconnected from the city’s planning and development. There is limited public access, few recreational facilities, and insufficient attention to their environmental potential.
Alba Iulia is now tackling the challenge of integrating blue-green infrastructure into its urban and regional development. The goal is to enhance the quantity and quality of green spaces, improve citizens’ quality of life, and make the city more attractive and climate-resilient.
