About this good practice
(EHTIC) established at the Silesian University of Technology, is a modern center that, in cooperation with leading medical universities, world technology leaders and with the support of local authorities, conducts research and implementation activities aimed at improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. EHTIC was opened this fall. EHTIC is the result of the Assist Med Sport Silesia project - Silesian Support Center for Engineering in Medicine and Sport co-financed by the European Union under the Regional Operational Program 2014 - 2020. The project is carried out jointly with the world leader in medical technologies - Philips. The aim of the project is to create a unique team of highly specialized research and technology laboratories dedicated to supporting companies. The main goal of the project is the development of modern technologies and medical devices in line with current health problems. The implementation of the project will also increase the competitiveness of companies from the broadly understood biomedical engineering industry and will enable their participation, inter alia, in European and global technology platforms, creating opportunities to effectively use the opportunities offered by international cooperation. The project will contribute to creating the possibility of implementing joint projects, as entities operating in the macroregion will have access to a unique research infrastructure and will be able to use it for commercial purposes, the established laboratories will deepen the scientific cooperation of universities, institutes, hospitals and enterprises from the medical and related industries, laboratories and the services they provide will stimulate the development of Regional Smart Specializations, the concept of the project provides for making laboratories available to all interested entities on the same market conditions, which will certainly contribute to improving the sharing of research infrastructure by scientific units, activities carried out by (EHTIC) are an example of effective cooperation between companies and research units, management of research infrastructure and mutual exchange of experience and knowledge.
