After presenting HERICOAST during the Maritime Days in Turku 2016, CIVILSCAPE will organise two Marinescape Forum events during the European Maritime Days 2017 and 2018. The next one will be the Marinescape Forum Poole on 17 May 2017. Meet us in Poole, just the day before the European Maritime Days 2017. Europe’s maritime & fluvial regions exist in great diversity, yet show parallels in spatial & political challenges. The Cultural heritage of these regions form an essential part of coastal landscape. This heritage is considered particular vulnerable exposed to spatial changes in transport, industrialisation of fisheries and use of coastal zones for tourism. The Marinescape Forum will focus on evidence-based regional policies development for heritage management in maritime and fluvial regions. The workshop will look how to set up policies and actions following the recommendations of the EU-funded project 'Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe' (CHCFE).
This project comprised collecting, analysing and consolidating evidence-based research and case studies from different EU countries on the impact of cultural heritage on the economy, society, culture and environment with three aims:
•to demonstrate the value and potential of cultural heritage as a strategic resource for a sustainable Europe;
•to raise public awareness of this resource;
•to present strategic recommendations to European decision makers.
The project partners from the on-going HERICOAST project will discuss together with the participants, how to implement the recommendation on regional level. The HERICOAST project is developing a methodological framework and a toolbox for assessing and developing heritage within entire cultural landscapes. The discussion will serve as the backbone of the starting learning process and invites other regions to exchange experiences and views. The results will be communicated at the European level via the Policy Learning Platform and through cultural heritage NGOs.
