5th National Congress on WEEE Management

The 5th National Congress on WEEE Management was attended by Ana Bretaña (Environment Director) and Raúl Salanueva (Head of the Waste Unit) from Government of Navarra. Two stakeholders from the Government of Navarra also attended the event alongside them.

The congress was hosted by Barcelona, on the 5th and 6th of October. It took place at the World Trade Center. The 5th edition of this congress had an international scope, with speakers from the rest of Europe to show steps, which other countries are taking in terms of e-waste management and with whom other entities can share experiences.

In addition, important changes continue to occur in the management of WEEE, which were discussed in the congress as the first year with the new national law on waste and contaminated soils for circular economy, the implementation of telematics tools for waste management and transfer or the foreseeable publication of the Ministerial Order that regulates the Electric Platform at national level.

All these changes intend to improve the management and traceability of electrical and electronic devices from their conception and design, through marketing, responsible use and consumption, reparability, prevention, reuse to recycling and recovery of materials that are contained in them.
