Call for peers - Improving food loss prevention in agri-food sector

In the context of an upcoming interregional peer review for the Diputacio of Tarragona (Spain), we are looking for experts on food-loss prevention in agri-food sector. The peer review is scheduled on 15-16 July 2025 in Tarragona.
Diputació de Tarragona (DIPTA) is a supra local government institution (NUTS3) that ensures the provision of quality local services in the 184 municipalities of the province of Tarragona. The Spanish government has recently approved a law against food waste and food loss which poses new challenges to agrifood producers, regarding the disposal of their surplus.
In order to reduce food loss in the agrifood sector and to improve food access of vulnerable groups by connecting food surplus from producers with NGOs and social initiatives, DIPTA manages several initiatives. Amongst other, they are focusing on improving the connection between agrifood producers with food losses with social entities that provide access to food to vulnerable groups. However, they are not yet able to reach a wide spectrum of producers, and they are especially interested in involving producers of small rural areas, as they are key players in achieving a greener agrifood sector and complying with the regulatory requirements.
