On 19 and 20 January 2023, the Policy Learning Platform is organising a peer review for the benefit of Euregio Tirol-South Tyrol-Trentino. It will focus on cross-border mobility.

What will it be about?

For citizens from the European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino, mobility is the key topic in which cooperation should be strengthened.

A key driver for the strong interest in cross-border mobility is both the interest in cooperation between integrated territories that share strong historic, cultural and linguistic bonds. Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino have common historical ties.

The separation of South Tyrol from Tyrol in the aftermath of WWI has been a wound that has been healing only with the autonomy process (allowing also more intense cross-border cooperation in more policy areas) as well as, crucially, the European integration process.

Under moderation of Thorsten Kohlisch, Project Manager of the Policy Learning Platform, and Elena Ferrario, Thematic Manager of the Policy Learning Platform, the peer review will focus on two thematic issues:

  • How to improve cross-border governance for improved cross-border transport?
  • Through which instruments and initiatives can cross-border obstacles in Euregio be tackled and overcome?

The peer review is an invitation only event. However, key learnings of the peer review will be published afterwards in a follow-up article on the Interreg Europe website.
