Driving logistics innovation in Latvia: an in-depth analysis
Vidzeme Planning Region recenty hosted the last SPOTLOG Exchange of Experience event (EoE), gathering project partners and stakeholders to discuss sustainable Logistics and Mobility.
Starting from there, Anita Āboliņa, Vidzeme Planning Region, is sharing an in-depth analysis of logistics in Latvia.
Sustainable logistics and mobility have become top priorities across Europe. In Latvia, particularly within the Riga metropolitan area – home to over 70% of the country’s jobs – innovative solutions are actively being developed and implemented to enhance urban sustainability.
Since this functional urban area also includes part of the Vidzeme Planning Region, mobility and logistics solutions introduced in Riga directly influence regional development planning in Vidzeme. In this context, SPOTLOG provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange in Riga, where international partners explored Latvia’s solutions and shared best practices, from 7 to 9 May 2025 during the EoE.
