On 8 October, we organised a participatory lab about the long-term vision for the EU’s rural areas aims for stronger, resilient, prosperous and connected rural areas.
During the session 'Advancing the Rural Pact: Fostering local action for the future of rural areas', we shared insights into how to untap the potential of rural communities through local action. The Rural Pact is designed to amplify rural voices in policy agendas, enhance local governance and boost cooperation (including interregional) and peer learning. The lab looked into inspiring initiatives that empower rural communities to achieve their ambitions, and drew recommendations on ways forward.
The speakers included:
- Elena Ferrario, Senior Thematic Manager at the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform
- Dorrit Jorritsma, representative of the GOCORE project

On 9 October, we participated in a joint workshop organised by CIVEX, on the EU enlargement.
If you missed the workshop and would like to learn more about the opportunities and challenges new countries face in joining the EU, you can find the webstream here.
On 10 October, one of our Platform's thematic experts, Simon Hunkin, shared insights on the possibilities to accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy-powered future by involving communities and so drive positive change to shape a greener, more resilient Europe.
