This is the good practice's implementation level. It can be national, regional or local.
About this good practice
The area of Paggaio, is privileged to have in a relatively small area, a large inventory of precious cultural assets, tangible and intangible. In combination with the natural heritage and the Natura2000, the area manages to have a tremendous growth potential.
Many scientists, originated from the area, but not only, being interested in Paggaio and having their scientific research focusing here, do not live in the area, while others do.
Until recently, individual researches and occasionally collaborative ones for the area, were taking place and in many cases, the scientists, even the ones originated from the area, did not know each other personally.
The imbalanced development of the coastal zone of Paggaio and the mountainous area, along with the seasonal tourism, led to the approach to bring closer scientists, mainly in the field of culture, geosciences, history and religion, in order to present their research and work, to know each other, network and set possibly collaborations in the field of cultural heritage, while at the same time the exchange of ideas would assist the local decision makers for improving their respective policies.
The practice reaches its objectives as it attracts a very large number of scientists, in a three days’ conference, brings scientific works and ideas for the area close and creates networks and multi-discipline collaborations.
It is implemented in cooperation with stakeholders and ran successfully in 2016 and 2018.

Potential for learning or transfer
It is considered as an interesting practice because with a minimum, affordable cost, it exploits the interest of scientists for the area and enhances the debate about local development and highlighting of cultural and natural assets. In that approach, the decision makers and their associates, improve their available information and knowledge, and hear new ideas, which assist in the planning of their respective policies or upgrade of the ongoing related policies.
It gathers together for 3 days, scientists from different disciplines who exchange views and opinions, set collaborations, which in many cases are multi-discipline.
The conference itself promotes the area. The positive impact for the local communities is a very important reason for other regions to follow, with similar objectives, for the benefit of the local society, for co-existence of culture, nature and economic development.
