This learning event, organized by APESA, is a key component of the SIreNERGY project, designed to facilitate the knowledge exchange and skill development among our partners and stakeholders. It provides a platform for in-depth exploration of citizen engagement in energy cooperatives, an organization where citizens collaboratively own and participate in renewable energy or energy efficiency projects.

The event gathers a panel of experts, such as:

  • Thomas Bauwens, Assistant Professor at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, specializes in energy communities;
  • Louis de Fontenelle, Assistant Professor at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, specializes in public policies, energy, and sustainable transition policies;
  • Antonia Proka, an Energy Transition Expert and Project Manager at REScoop.eu, the European Federation of Citizen Energy Cooperatives.

The event also includes the presentation of two European Union projects, offering an overview of EU programs: REC4EU (Renewable Energy Communities for EU Regions), dedicated to the development and promotion of renewable energy communities within European regions, and LEEWAY (LEading coopEration toWArds energy communities policies tackling energy povertY), focused on energy communities and their policies, with a specific emphasis on addressing energy poverty.
