Water wise walks: Inspiring climate action in Roeselare
The City of Roeselare, in cooperation with Join for Water, is actively working to engage local communities in climate adaptation. As part of the InterRevita project, the city is promoting sustainable water practices through an innovative and interactive approach: water walks.
This past week, guided water walks were launched in the Meiboom and Groenpark districts. The route features 10 informative stops where participants learn about the growing water-related challenges caused by climate change. Each stop highlights practical, low-threshold solutions for managing rainwater such as reuse, infiltration and buffering on private property.
By offering clear and accessible information, the initiative aims to motivate residents to take small but impactful steps toward making their homes and gardens more climate-resilient. The project emphasizes that private actions, when taken collectively, can contribute significantly to the city's overall water strategy.
The walking tour will remain available throughout the summer, allowing more residents to explore the route at their own pace and become inspired to take action.
With initiatives like this, Roeselare is fostering a stronger connection between citizens and climate resilience. One step at a time.
