About this good practice
Reduction of energy demand through thermal modernization, modernization of energy equipment of public buildings with the use of renewable energy in the area of Daleszyce Commune as part of ITI - thermo-modernization of the Junior High School in Daleszyce.
Necessity to undertake activities involving deep thermo-modernization of the building of the Gymnasium Bl. John Paul II in Daleszyce, resulted, among others, due to the lack of adequate thermal comfort in some rooms of the building, rising costs of maintaining the building, inefficient heating system of the building, as well as poor condition of the window and door joinery. The Low-Emission Economy Plan, which was developed for the Daleszyce Commune up to 2020, indicates that in the area of the commune concerned measures should be taken to improve the air quality by lowering carbon dioxide emissions as well as PM10 dust, which are mainly caused by combustion processes. It is also recommended to reduce the final energy demand, increase the share of energy from renewable sources and undertake any activities that will contribute to the fulfillment of integration commitments towards the European Union, set out in the climate and energy package. The above-mentioned conditions, as well as the assumptions of strategic documents implemented in the commune, led to the implementation of the task, which was a deep thermomodernization of the building of the discussed gymnasium.

Resources needed
The task was implemented as part of the thermomodernization project of 6 public buildings located in the Daleszyce Commune. The value of the project is about 1 825 581 Euro. Co-financing came from the Regional Operational Program for the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship for the years 2014-2020.
Evidence of success
The scope of thermomodernization works that are carried out in the building of the Junior High School in Daleszyce, it was determined at the design stage, preceding the investment with an energy audit. Appropriate calculations and a local vision in the building allowed for a detailed selection of solutions to improve energy efficiency. The implemented practice can be described as good due to the fact that its implementation will contribute to achieving the regional objectives.
Potential for learning or transfer
Daleszyce commune is an example of a territorial self-government unit which undertook activities related to improving the quality of atmospheric air in a comprehensive and sustainable manner. The first stage was to develop a Low-Emission Economy Plan, a strategic document in which the current status was diagnosed, problem areas were identified, and then investments were proposed whose implementation would improve the quality of the environment in the Daleszyce commune. The development of PGN also made it possible to apply for external funds to implement the intentions that were entered into the document. Having a Low-Emission Economy Plan is an access criterion when applying for European Union funds, which are made available through the Regional Operational Program for the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Appropriate substantive preparation and planning taking into account the longer time horizon allowed for the implementation of a large infrastructure project.
