About this good practice
When the pandemic started in 2020, the Foundation was carrying out its employment activities face-to-face. In order to continue with them, it faced the necessity of turning the weaknesses into strengths.
With the purpose of continuing this direct attention, the FSMLR seized the opportuniy of taking advantage of the lockdown to provide digital literacy and digital skills training for its internal staff.
To satisfy the program and the project users’ needs, the FSMLR continued supporting them by providing assitance in the job searching task in an on-line modality, thus using the lockdown period to provide training in digital literacy and skills to unemployed people mainly.
“Lanzadera Conecta Empleo” is a professional orientation program for unemployed people that guides them in the design of a comprehensive job search plan, working together and using new techniques and digital tools.
It has a mixed format: participants meet several days a week in virtual and face-to-face sessions. They are supported by specialized technicians, who guide them to improve their employability and pursue their labour insertion.
Furthermore, they strengthen their transversal and digital skills, learn how to develop a job searching plan, update their CVs, and simulate job interviews, employability maps and contacts with companies.
Main beneficiaries , 3,319 unemployed participants

Expert opinion
Digital skills are paramount to succeeding in the modern economy. In recent years, the importance of digital skills has accelerated due to the Covid crisis. As digital skills are now a pre-requisite for most jobs, it is imperative for unemployed people to learn these new skills to enter the workforce.
In this context, the FSMLR have developed a holistic approach to help unemployed people find new careers and increase their digital literacy. First, and in response to the pandemic, FSMLR provided digital skills training to their internal staff to help transition their services from an in-person support service to a blended on-site and online support service. Second, FSMLR developed services to help unemployed people to use digital tools and increase their digital literacy.
What particularly stands out is that digital skills are not just taught in a classroom setting, but from the beginning of the process, participants are using digital tools to actively participate via online classes, using digital tools to search for jobs and optimize their CV, etc. In this way, participants are getting hands-on experience using digital tools to interact with their instructors while also increasing digital skills/literacy via focused trainings.
The replicability and potential for learning transfer for this good practice is high given that the need for digital skills/literacy is universal and the methodologies described in this good practice could be replicated in other regions.

Potential for learning or transfer
One of the strengths of this system is its rapid and cost-effective scalability. Key conditions for an effective transfer and replication in other contexts and projects include:
1. A philosophy of empowerment.
2. Develop a strong network structure
3. Use a clear operational model
4. Participant selection
5. Leverage partnerships with experts
