Info Day in Oltenia-Pedală în Bănie

On 14 June 2025, the South-West Oltenia Regional Development Agency (ADR Sud-Vest Oltenia) will host an Info Day in the municipality of Podari, near Craiova (Romania), in the framework of the Interreg Europe project Cycling Waterways. The initiative aims to promote sustainable mobility and encourage the use of cycling routes along the region’s natural and navigable waterways.

The event is organised in conjunction with the local cycling competition Pedală în Bănie, coordinated by the Ride Racing Team Ciclism Craiova. The competition, which includes a popular mountain biking race, is one of the most important cycling events in the Dolj County and regularly gathers a large number of amateur and professional participants.

As part of the Cycling Waterways Info Day, the event will feature:

• Presentation of cycling routes along the Jiu River and nearby canal systems, with a focus on their potential for leisure, local tourism, and everyday mobility.

• Promotion of physical activity and environmentally friendly transport alternatives in connection with the natural and cultural assets of the area.

• Exchange with local stakeholders and members of the public on the role of cycling in improving regional accessibility and quality of life.
