Matchmaking: aligning higher education with European innovation

The National Council for Higher Education and Science-Research, established in 2021 under the Law on Higher Education, plays a key role in ensuring and promoting the quality of higher education and scientific research in North Macedonia. Operating independently with support from the Ministry of Education and Science, the Council reports directly to the Parliament and Government.
One of its primary responsibilities is drafting the National Programme for Science and Research, which sets priorities for research and innovation, plans infrastructure and workforce needs, and defines monitoring indicators. In 2024, a draft of the programme was prepared with input from national stakeholders and experts, aligning with the National Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) 2024–2027.
The upcoming matchmaking aims to refine this programme by incorporating European best practices in research and innovation. The focus will be on fostering university-industry collaboration, enhancing research valorisation, and ensuring alignment with the latest European initiatives and trends, strengthening its relevance to the national S3.
The event is on invitation only.
