VAGONETTO – Mining Park of Fokida is an innovative thematic park that showcases the history of bauxite mining in the region. Located at the site of an old underground gallery, it combines real mine tours with multimedia exhibits, 3D projections, and interactive educational tools. Visitors experience the life of miners, the evolution of mining techniques, and the region’s industrial heritage. Operated by the Phocis Mining Park, it promotes cultural preservation, education, and sustainable tourism, attracting schools, tourists, and researchers alike.
Resources needed
Funded with approximately €2.5 million from national and EU resources. Engineers, museologists, set designers, and technicians were involved in the creation and operation of the thematic park and its interactive exhibits.
