RAISE UP – MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
About this good practice
RAISE up is the mentorship program for teams of innovators in the RAISE ecosystem who wish to exploit the results of their research. The program supports the development of business ideas based on the results of research carried out in the context of the 4 vertical spokes of RAISE, in order to facilitate the transfer of innovative solutions to the market for the benefit of the economic and social system.
RAISE up is composed by three different plans:
- Tech lifting
Support in evaluating the technological solution by understanding its development status and identifying its advantages over possible substitute technologies.
- Strategic acceleration
Support in the strategic positioning of innovative solutions, through competitor analysis, definition of competitive advantage, business model and business plan.
- Specialist boost
Support, by highly specialised figures, on specific issues in relation to the team's needs.
- RAISE up pitch
Support in the strategic positioning of innovative solutions, through competitor analysis, definition of competitive advantage, business model and business plan.

Evidence of success
RAISE is an innovation ecosystem composed by 26 partners. Thanks to 5 calls for collaborative research projects, 50 proposals have been selected with 104 Company and 26 Public Research Entities involved;175 are the innovation solutions raised. As Raise up achievements, 24 research teams has been tech transfered supported, 62mentor&expert activated and more than 160 people involved. At present, 11 new teams are in preparation, 4 submitted to the ethical committee, 4 starting and 9 ongoing studies
Potential for learning or transfer
Raise and its supporting actions represent a replicable innovation ecosystem building model based on the scientific and technological domains, focusing on the needs of a specific regional context. The practice developed has the power to make a regional ecosystem evolve into a highly attractive ecosystem for businesses, investors and researchers, both nationally and internationally.
The idea behind this innovation ecosystem is to coordinate and enhance research products in a logic of integration of the technology transfer system, using the local market as an extraordinary and immediate laboratory for experimentation and application
