Promotional Campaign of Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes in Pomorskie #Pomorski Horyzont

About this good practice
In 2021, the Department of International Programmes at the Office of the Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship launched the #PomorskiHoryzont campaign to address the low participation of regional institutions in Horizon 2020 and to raise awareness of opportunities within Horizon Europe. Many organisations lacked knowledge about international funding possibilities, limiting their engagement in innovative projects.
The campaign aimed to inspire participation by showcasing successful Horizon 2020 projects in five thematic areas from the Pomorskie region through promotional films shared on social media. These projects demonstrated the tangible benefits of international partnerships in key areas such as health, high tech, energy/climate and environment, transport/mobility, and open societies. By highlighting success stories, the campaign encouraged institutions to apply for Horizon Europe funding (2021–2027).
The main stakeholders included regional institutions, businesses, universities, and research centres, which benefit from increased access to EU funds and international collaboration. The campaign was supported by organisations assisting enterprises and academia in securing funding and implementing Horizon projects, fostering a more innovative and competitive region.
Resources needed
An external contractor for 1.190,00 Euro.

Evidence of success
The campaign was positively received by Pomeranian institutions. A key success indicator was the ongoing interest from the Horizontal Contact Point for Horizon Europe 2021–2027 in Gdańsk, which continued the campaign. The #Pomorski Horyzont initiative was promoted at the webinar on 11 April 2024, reaching a national audience. The campaign was highlighted at a meeting by the National Contact Point for EU Research Programmes.
Tangible results include number of views of the 5 videos on YouTube.
Potential for learning or transfer
#PomorskiHoryzont campaign demonstrates how successful participation in EU programmes can be. It could be implemented in other regions in the same way and #PomorskiHoryzont may be of interest for them as a model to be used by other regions.
This campaign serves as a powerful tool to showcase the results of research and innovation projects from the Horizon Programme. It highlights the opportunities EU programmes, especially Horizon Europe, offer to SMEs, particularly in the field of research and innovation.
The Horizontal Contact Point for Horizon Europe 2021–2027 at the Gdańsk University of Technology has been continued the campaign for Horizon Europe 2021–2027 in the Pomorskie region. This shows that the practice can be easily transferred between organisations.
Transferring the #PomorskiHoryzont campaign also to other regions in EU offers all participating regions the opportunity to start this campaign in an interregional way underpinning even more the European approach.
