NEW WORK & Company Culture

About this good practice
With the compact ‘New Work & Corporate Culture’ workshop programme, the Green Building Cluster of Lower Austria has set itself the goal of inspiring managers, entrepreneurs and leaders. After all, every company deals with the topic of corporate culture differently. By highlighting many approaches, aspects and expertise as well as providing inspiration through examples of good practice, the participants are encouraged to implement measures in their own company. A total of 40 companies, mainly SMEs, took part in the five rounds of the programme of which three workshop rounds were carried out in the framework of the INTERREG Project DEBUTING also being enriched by the insights and learnings from the DEBUTING Partners (Awareness Building Exercises like "The Privilege Walk", putting phenomena like "Unconcious Bias" or long-term outperformance of diverse teams into focus to create awareness for certain mechanisms), tackling this very problem on how to create a valuable environment for employees to be able to retain great people but also to be able to recruit the right ones as a crucial factor for business success.
Gain inspiration:
-GP examples, insights into other companies, their experiences and solutions
-Work out your own problem areas, e.g. why do we have too few staff?
-Develop solutions, individually and cooperatively
-Design your own implementation roadmap, such as activities, responsibilities,
-Receive guidance, e.g. support options from the federal/ state governments
Resources needed
Moderation, Workshop facilities, time, technical equipment, entrepreneurs with a willingness to learn and reflect.
Evidence of success
As a soft measure it is difficult to measure on a quantifiable basis.
In total 40 companies went through this 3-day Workshop Programme, all praising the Workshop with positive feedback, especially pointing out that the exchange amongst entrepreneurs was so refreshing and important.
Thanks to the open and appreciative exchange and the inspiration from the participants, each company was able to put together its own ‘suitcase’ of ideas for the further development of its own corporate culture.
Potential for learning or transfer
This Workshop Programme can be transferred to any industry or country as the european economy is suffering from a severe shortage of (qualified) workers. It is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to find and retain employees and apprentices. Demographic change will further aggravate the situation in the coming decades, especially, but not only, in the rural areas of Lower Austria.
The "NEW WORK & Company Culture" is one way to tackle the above mentioned problem via this soft measure which is hard to measure on a quantifiable basis.
