
Inovujme.sk - Increasing the innovation performance of the Slovak economy

About this good practice
The national project "Increasing the Innovation Performance of the Slovak Economy" (www.inovujme.sk) aimed to assist entrepreneurs in finding innovative solutions and raise awareness about the importance of innovation. The project's various activities inform entrepreneurs, company employees, high school and university students, and the general public about the significance of innovation in everyday life and help them develop innovations.
The national project inovujme.sk is implemented by the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency. It is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Operational Program Integrated Infrastructure 2014–2020. Assistance is provided based on the Scheme for Supporting the Increase of Innovation Performance of Business Entities and Clusters, as amended by Addendum No. 4.
Many Slovak entrepreneurs want to implement innovations, but they encounter obstacles in the innovation process that they are unable to overcome due to financial or personnel reasons. The national project offered support that can be utilized for the successful and efficient implementation of innovations in various business areas. Support in the form of extended individual consulting was also be fully covered by the project.
Project also implemented 7 calls for innovation vouchers that helped SMEs to provide financial resources for innovative projects.

Evidence of success
A total of seven calls were announced. A total of 474 vouchers were reimbursed, amounting to 7,540,000 euros. Among them, we can mention, for example, a "growing" children's bicycle, biomechanical finger prosthetics, or a smart appointment scheduling system for patients.
During the course of the project, 280 innovation workshops were conducted, attended by 6,540 students.
At 258 events, 17,397 participants were informed about innovation activities.
The project has completed 92 analyses.
Potential for learning or transfer
We gained specific know how and useful experiences during the various calls, innovation workshops and making analyses and publications about innovation enviroment in Slovakia, that we can share and other companies can use it.
Our agency also did an exploration among requesters of the innovation vouchers, so we can share specific information to make next calls easier for others.
