Entrepreneurial trajectory for teachers

About this good practice
Vlajo’s trajectory is a training program for teachers to teach them how to adopt a more entrepreneurial teaching method. Not only the teachers benefit from this, but also the students. There are three different ways to follow the program. A teacher can choose to follow certain sessions; a school can choose to organise a training program for its entire staff; or different teachers from different schools can be united in a coaching program. In case of the last two options, the program runs over the entire school year and the sessions take place both online and physically. Teachers learn how to create an
entrepreneurial learning environment where they can live up to the high and demanding transversal end term and key competences established by the government. The teachers also inspire and support each other by sharing experiences in an online knowledge centre. They research how their current teaching method works, with its strengths and weaknesses, and they formulate action points to do better in the next school year. Teachers also put together a didactic toolbox with a manual that can be used by themselves, other teachers and also by the students.
Resources needed
2 fte, staff costs, 130 euro/teacher (paid by government)
Evidence of success
In 3 years, 150 teachers have participated
Potential for learning or transfer
The learning potential is big, but it also involves quite some resources. Anyway we think it is important that the government realises that entrepreneurial education is the only way that we will prepare the students of today for an entrepreneurial future tomorrow, and thus that the coaching of the teachers is extremely important. It is up to the government to make this financially possible because schools and teachers do not have money to pay this.
