About this good practice
Digitisation Offensive of SMEs (Handwerksoffensive - Handwerk digital) was a measure implemented as part of the SKILLS+ project (1st call). The aim was and is to inform and sensitize small and medium-sized (craft) enterprises in particular to the topic of digitization, information and communication technologies and to advise them on possible funding instruments. The crafts offensive started in 2019 with various event formats (network meetings, webinars, video formats, etc.), which were intended to reach the target group in as low-threshold a manner as possible. In addition to face-to-face events, online formats were used at an early stage. The events and webinars covers topics ranging from the digitization of individual process steps in (craft) businesses to customer relation management, search engine optimization, setting up an online store, and advice on government funding programs. Within the project good practices were identified (SMEs that have already digitized many areas). These SMEs provide hints and seminars on how digitization can succeed in practice (exchange of experiences). With the onset of the corona pandemic, it became apparent that the demand for information in the area of digitized work and management processes at smes was increasing. Furthermore, interested parties were able to obtain information and advice despite the lockdown.

Evidence of success
Low-threshold offer, explanatory videos and webinars (about 50 ) are available at anytime and anywhere, Most events and activities are created by entrepreneurs/tradesmen for entrepreneurs/tradesmen (with professional expertise), 22 Good practices identified, 8 videos in which SMEs present their digitization process, were produced.
Potential for learning or transfer
The Craft Offensive project is very well suited as a transfer project to other regions in Europe, as it can be implemented independently of regulatory and legal requirements and existing institutional structures. All that is needed is a management level that is well networked with the SMEs and a source of funding (e.g., subsidies, membership fees) to finance the corresponding personnel costs and services.
