Digital Batman - together for digital education - a charity group of everyday superheroes

About this good practice
The Digital Batman - Together for Digital Education campaign was launched during the Covid-19 pandemic, following the announcement of the switch to digital education. Founder Zsolt Pintér opened the Digital Batman - Together for Digital Education Facebook group and created the www.digitalisbatman.hu website.
The platform uses technology to help disadvantaged children and communities. The group believes that technology plays a key role not only in improving the quality of life, but also in expanding educational opportunities.
The Digital Batman group uses technology in innovative ways to help those in need. The team of volunteers aims to support disadvantaged children and communities through a variety of digital tools and online platforms. Their programmes include developing digital skills, providing educational materials and organising online safety training. The group often works with celebrities, schools and other NGOs to reach as many people in need as possible. They also organise various fundraising events, the proceeds of which are used to purchase technology equipment and support educational programmes. The Digital Batman group is unique in that it integrates modern technology into traditional charitable activities.
The campaign continued after the pandemic, with the group continuing to collect and distribute devices and expand its charitable activities.
Resources needed
The setup and running of the initiative require a couple of very dedicated people – preferably with IT, marketing and logistics knowledge -, a room to store the devices and volunteers to transfer them.
Evidence of success
More than 1,200 pcs of equipment worth at least HUF 25M were distributed to needy children and social organisations.
The group has launched a number of successful projects to improve digital literacy and make technology tools more widely available. They are not only a charity, but also a movement for digital equality in Hungary. Their actions have improved the quality of life for many families, while the spread of technology skills helps to prepare them for the challenges of the digital age.
Potential for learning or transfer
The Digital Batman charity campaign is based on a "business system", which is not usual for such activities. The non-profit is a "business", but it uses and applies the practices of for-profit companies (social media, networking, marketing). The practice is easily transferable with the right people.
