About this good practice
The Build in Green project received finances from the ESF (http://www.innovalia.org/cev/index.php?lang=en-GB), its objective was to increase companies and workers competences in sustainable building and retrofitting. The tree institutions member of the consorcium were: the Innovalia Association, the Cluster Construcción Sostenible and the Instituto Municipal de Formación y Empleo of the city of Malaga. The general objective was to promote a change towards a more sustainable activity in the building and retrofitting sector, in order to reduce environmental impacts of their activity. With this purpose several actions were carried out in the localities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (in Canary Islands):
- Developing resources: Elaboration of Guide-Books on different themes: Methodological guide of sustainable building and retrofitting; guide for business restructuring and new sustainable business models; and guide of good practices in sustainable building and retrofitting.
- Training: Two training courses were accomplished regarding sustainable building and retrofitting; a classroom-based training and another complementary course in the modality of tele-learning. These training actions were designed for architects, engineers and other professionals of the sector.
- Personal consulting was proposed to whom was going the create a new company or wanted to change their business model for a more sustainable one.

Resources needed
The resources required are limited as the main requirement to replicate this initiative is to set a network of interested institutions/organizations and to create a training and supporting agenda.
Evidence of success
The success is shown by the participation. The trainees learnt a wide set of methodologies to cope with sustainability with scientific and practical basis. The high rate obtained during the assessment process is the best indicator. For some of them it was an opportunity to access to a job. Others created new business initiatives inside their organizations.
Potential for learning or transfer
The potential is very high, since this project counts on a strong basis regarding learning materials and good experience in how to deal with this type of course which could be both transferred. On the other hand, the key consists in counting on first level professionals with training skills.
