About this good practice
Andalusia Emprende is a network of more than 262 entrepreneurship centres located in Andalusia Region. The objective of this network is to foment the entrepreneurial culture and business activity in the region. Specifically in area of business transfer they support the buying –out of companies, they offer advisory support for business transfer and support generation renewal in the agricultural sector.
In Andalusia more than a third of currently active business owners will reach retirement age in the next ten years and very often there is no-one in the family environment to whom they can transfer their business, neither there is not much culture to transfer businesses outside the family circle. In view of this situation, Andalucia Emprende works to promote business transfer. Andalucia Emprende approaches this problem through training, dissemination and the provision of advisory services specialized in business transfer. They offer a range of services aligned with the Spanish national plan of business transfer. As part of the entrepreneurship support services, this organization offers advisory to entrepreneurs interested to buy an existing business or to employees of companies in bankruptcy to buy-out the company creating a cooperative business. Also as part of the project Agri-hebe2020, they support young agriculture entrepreneurs to ensure generation renewal in the agricultural sector.

Expert opinion
This practice is a good example of having foresight and a long-term vision in business support services. As it is known that that in the following years more and more business owners will be retiring in the region, Andalucia Emprende has set up a business transfer service that focuses on facilitating the buying out of companies. This is relevant in cultural context where transferring businesses outside the family circle is not a common practice. By providing advisory services and supporting the purchasing process it is ensured that profitable businesses do not disappear from the region. The service is also relevant in the case of bankruptcy where company employees are supported in creating a cooperative business and thus retaining jobs. This experience could be relevant to policy makers setting up new business transfer support services.
