About this good practice
With the ‘Welcoming Accessibility’ scheme, the city of ’s-Hertogenboch aims to inform visitors about accessibility in a client oriented manner. The scheme includes knowledge development and collective ownership of accessibility information, improved co-operation with the private sector (retail, leisure); training of ‘amBoschadors’ for accessibility (like City Hosts in Roermond); a central database for travel information and improved wayfinding for pedestrians, car parking and cycle parking.
Most important input for this scheme is that is investigated when, where and with whom visitors 'get in touch' with the city. Where are the visitors come from? What are the different moments and locations of contact when visitors get into the city? And which information for visitors is required at the different locations during the customer journey? What does the city wants to tell them at that specific moment?
This has led to a concrete result of giving touristic information and visitors information not only online by the website www.bezoekdenbosch.nl, but also by training busdrivers, taxidrivers, entrepeneurs, 'amBoschadors' etc. to give the right information at the right time to visitors. By developing awareness about hospitality, the city of 's Hertogenbosch wants to show that this is a key factor being an attractive city.

Evidence of success
Transport of people/visitors (by different modes) and enhanced cooperation among several stakeholders such as policy makers and retailers can be seen as the main outcome of this GP.
‘Welcoming Accessible ‘s-Hertogenbosch’ is a good practice because it has been developed together with the private sector and focusses on visitors to the city centre. The fundamental idea is that (information on) accessibility is a shared responsibility of the retailers and municipality.
