Specialist tele-visits in ULSS 7 pharmacies through certified medical devices.

About this good practice
The Veneto Region has carried out a series of actions aimed at implementing the quantity and quality of health services in the area.
The Regional Social and Health Plan (L.R. n. 48/2028) has implemented the national indications, recognizing that telemedicine services must be structured in the network of citizen services, with a view to strengthen the territorial scope of assistance, helping to ensure equality in the access to medical services, improving the quality of life and inclusion of patients.
The Ministerial Decree n. 77/2022 has dictates the guidelines for the strengthening of local assistance.
This project provides for the provision of specialist tele-visits in pharmacies through certified medical device, to chronic patients with cardiac or ENT pathologies.
The goals are:
-Improving access to care and reducing waiting times to benefit from medical advice in the area.
-Strengthening telemedicine services in the territory through pharmacies.
The project is financed by national funds for the "Service Pharmacy”.
Resources needed
The project is financed by national funds dedicated to the pharmacy of services and approved with the budget law 2024 and 2025.
70 pharmacies were involved with 1 pharmacist dedicated to the activity.
Evidence of success
This activity has allowed the most fragile and elderly patients to receive healthcare close to their homes. It has reduced waiting times and travel-related issues, especially in the most disadvantaged areas and those far from hospitals.
The pharmacist supported patients in understanding and reviewing drug therapy. Patients were satisfied with the service provided.
60% of pharmacies have joined the project, equally distributed across the territory.
Potential for learning or transfer
The televisit project in the pharmacy represents an important innovation in the field of local healthcare, offering numerous advantages both for citizens and for the healthcare system as a whole.
The pharmacy is one of the most widespread and accessible points of reference in the territory, often present even in rural areas or less served by healthcare facilities. Offering televisits directly in the pharmacy allows you to overcome geographical barriers and facilitates access to care.
Televisits allow you to streamline booking and visit procedures, reducing waiting times for the patient and lightening the load on clinics and hospitals.
The use of certified devices ensures that visits are carried out with high standards of quality, privacy and security, essential for maintaining the trust of patients and healthcare professionals.
The ULSS 7 was the first to conduct this experiment in Italy, subsequently, this project was spread to other regions such as Campania, Puglia and Lombardy.
