Real time navigation tool for routes

About this good practice
Signposted walking and cycling routes in South Limburg are all digitised via the Visit South Limburg website. A route can further be downloaded in several ways, or one follows the signposting as indicated in the route description. Still, it may happen that someone misses a signpost on the way, or one wants to start a walk from a certain address.
When guests and residents have found a suitable route on the Visit Zuid-Limburg website, the ‘start the route’ button is displayed on the specific route page. When one clicks on this, the tool indicates, via a dotted line in a digital map, how to walk to get to the route and where you are at the moment. Inside this digital map there is also a button ‘navigation mode’ displayed, When used it shows in real time where you are and how you should walk the entire route. Another advantage of the tool is that it immediately indicates where nearby catering establishments or places of interest are located, and additional information about these places can be read and, if desired, contacted.
The primary stakeholders are Visit South Limburg, the local municipalities and the entrepreneurs who are also partners of Visit South Limburg. The benefits of the tool are for everyone who wishes to follow a route, both tourists and residents. This practice aligns with Phase C (During the Visit – Digital Tools) of the TAAS Cycle, as it enhances real-time navigation and visitor experience through digital tools.
