Portal on remote job opportunities and educational activities “GO REMOTE”

About this good practice
The "GO REMOTE" a pilot project was initiated in response to the rising youth unemployment exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly affecting NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth in rural areas. Recognising the shift towards remote work, the project aims to harness this trend to provide employment and training opportunities for young individuals.
Implemented across Latvia, Cyprus, Croatia, and Bulgaria, the GO REMOTE platform includes two primary pathways:
(1) an active learning path (free of charge courses, e.g. on Digital marketing and Data entry for persons aged 20-29), tailored events (published by youth organisations), mentorship and Knowledge Hub; as well as
(2) a flexible job search path providing access to remote and hybrid job offers, an online SpeedDating – Job Tinder (1 to 1 interview between motivated job seekers and employers), a database of youth job seekers, personalised profiles.
In order to define training topics and structure, and youth employment trends and challenges, needs assessment of the target group in each region were performed.
Beneficiaries – youth (incl. NEETs, youth in rural areas, young mothers, youth organisations), as well as companies with the mission of bridging youth with employers.
After completion, GO REMOTE was transformed into MatchWork to offer opportunities for youth employment and growth.

Potential for learning or transfer
The GO REMOTE platform is an initiative that can be easily replicated - fully or partially - in other EU regions facing similar youth unemployment challenges, especially in rural or underserved areas. Its dual-pathway model - combining free online training with flexible job search tools like Job Tinder and jobseeker databases - is scalable and adaptable to local needs. Regional needs assessments ensured relevance, and the digital tools align with EU priorities. Public-private cooperation with youth organisations and employers created a replicable, sustainable model. Evolving into MatchWork, the platform continues to support youth employment in Latvia and beyond.
