About this good practice
Inspired by the Rio Earth Conference in 1992, Cork Environmental Forum (CEF) came into being in 1995. Raising awareness, providing information and opportunities to engage in activities that support the achievement of Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (2015) is a key feature of CEF’s work and is particularly relevant in the delivery of the Global Action Plan Greener Living Programme Participation.
The Greener Living course aims to bring all communities to look at how to reduce their carbon emissions using behavioural change. The course addresses the nature of the climate and biodiversity emergency we are facing, and our response needed as individuals and as communities.
CEF also holds seminars and workshops in collaboration with local and national environmental organisations to bring awareness to a range of environmental issues.
Events include:
- World Wetlands Day
- Tree Benefit Awareness & Planting
- Earth Day
- Biodiversity Day
- Heritage Week
- Coastwatch Autumn Survey & Marine Life
- European Mobility Week
- Bike Week
- REUSE Month Fashion Show
- Environmental Awards
CEF strives to bring an environmental perspective to policy and work in collaboration with a broad range of partners, valuing connections and relationships, in order to engage more people and communities and all sectors to work with CEF to protect and care for our environment.
