Cooprado Foundation's Shepherd School

About this good practice
For the COOPRADO Foundation, the generational replacement is essential for the future of the coming years and the intention is that people who join the agricultural sector, have adequate training because the modes of production over recent decades have changed and people who want to work in this sector have to adapt and train properly.
The Shepherds School has intensive programs for people who want to join pastoral livestock farming activity, which is developed over a period of approximately 5 months, with 615 hours of theoretical-practical training, which includes the necessary accreditations to obtain the following certifications:
- Incorporation to the agricultural company.
- Animal Welfare Card for transporters and livestock farmers.
- Biocides card for basic livestock use.
The benefits to be achieved with this project are:
- To teach and learn the practical activity, management and techniques of animal production on their own farms or at the Center itself.
- To adapt new rational production techniques to grazing from an economic, ecological and social point of view.
- To establish a participative group dynamics through visits, lectures, as well as monographic seminars. seminars.
- To teach the necessary techniques for a correct management of the goat farm.
The main stakeholders and beneficiaries are, directly, unemployed young people in rural areas and, indirectly, livestock farms in need of skilled labor for grazing.
