Community involvement in urban architecture through a participative cultural act

About this good practice
An increasingly common trend in urban life and architecture is the restoration of cultural spaces as elements of authenticity added to the urban landscape. The creation of cultural spaces amidst the hectic cities represents an increasingly common trend in urban regeneration.
One case study of cultural initiative to promote authenticity in the urban landscape is the project "Rediscovering Craiova through street art", that the Municipality of Craiova together with cultural associations initiated and developed – starting from the decoration of electrical panels by art high school students, to murals decorating high wall buildings in the historic center or the facades of blocks of flats in the different areas of the city.
The project had a strong participative component, the residents of the neighborhoods being encouraged to contribute to the transformation of the urban landscape alongside the invited painters and artists to shaping the artistic project. Each wall painting has a story behind it that is learned from the inhabitants of the neighborhood before being put into image artistically, having a connection with those places or the people living in that area.
The main aim of these initiatives was developing urban communities, "by identifying the problems faced by the inhabitants and solving them through the social-cultural act" (according to the integrated urban development strategy of Craiova for 2021- 2030)
