Adventure Bus

About this good practice
The Regional Council of Central Ostrobothnia coordinates project financing in Central Ostrobothnia. National and EU cohesion funding is directed to the development of tourism. Allocating funding to both tourism companies and new innovations in tourism is a very important tool to implement and promote the development of tourism as a viable livelihood in the region.
The Regional Council of Central Ostrobothnia has been channeling funding in for e.g.,
Adventure Bus 1 and 2 – projects where the accessibility of tourist destinations has been
increased by offering customers affordable bus transportation in the region. The project operated summers -22 and -23. In 2023, novelty was that you could take a bicycle on the bus.
The goal was to support the development and growth of tourism companies
in the region and to increase the visibility and attractiveness of tourism
in Central Ostrobothnia. Adventure Bus was a sustainable way to make rural areas easy to reach. With the bus, private driving to tourist destinations would decrease, which makes moving around the destinations safer, reduces emissions and facilitates parking in the destinations' often cramped parking areas.
The Adventure Bus enables an increase in the number of visitors, while respecting nature values, at nature routes, cultural destinations, attractions and tourism companies. The Adventure Bus also contributes to the development of joint product packages for tourism companies and cultural operators.
