Regional promote of nature tourism

About this good practice
Cleanliness, silence and nature impress a wide group of tourists. As part of nature tourism in the province, we also want to develop fishing tourism. Fishing has a long tradition in Central Ostrobothnia, and we want to build tourism around fishing, where tourists can truly experience how the locals live. Tourism in sparsely populated Central Ostrobothnia must be sustainable and must take nature into account, so that future generations can also enjoy the beauty of our nature regardless of the burden tourism causes on nature.
To promote regional nature tourism, tourism expertise must also be developed. The goal is to train more tourism experts in the region in cooperation with educational institutions in the region. In nature tourism, nature and cultural values are an important reason for the trip. It is important to inform visitors about the site's values and their protection and to encourage them to act responsibly during their visit. In Central Ostrobothnia, services are developed, and use is controlled according to demand and the nature of the destination.
In addition, mainly ready-made routes and existing service equipment are used. Local nature and cultural values are considered in the construction.
Tourism must not endanger the destination's natural and cultural values. The goal is to promote opportunities to travel to destinations with public transport and with low emissions, and to increase the length of stay in the tourist area.
