Peer Reviews in the SIreNERGY Project

SIreNERGY uses peer reviews to boost renewable energy in rural areas. Visits to Euskadi, Blekinge, and Mazovia focus on sharing best practices, citizen participation, and sustainability, ensuring effective energy transitions.

Renewables and citizen engagement to address energy poverty

On June 26, 2024, the second SIreNERGY learning event addressed energy precarity via citizen engagement and renewable energy. It was showcased efforts to empower vulnerable households, while experts discussed socio-political challenges & other.

Storytelling about the Study Visit in Poland

On June 18-19, 2024, the SIreNERGY project consortium had a productive study visit in Warsaw, Poland, organized by the Mazovian Voivodeship. Visits included a kindergarten, KEZO Research Centre PAS, and Zawady Biogas Plant.

A Model of Sustainability in Michalowice Municipality

The kindergarten excels in energy efficiency and sustainability, integrating insulation, heat pumps, ventilation, solar panels, and rainwater storage. It reduces CO2 by 7.64 tonnes, and educates the community on eco-friendly practices.

KEZO Research Centre PAS: Pioneering RE Innovation

A recent SIreNERGY visit showcased KEZO's innovative projects in solar, wind, and energy storage, emphasizing practical applications and community involvement.

Zawady Biogas Plant: Sustainable Energy

The Zawady Biogas Plant, with a 0.999 MW capacity, converts organic waste into biogas, generating electricity and heat. It benefits local agriculture and economy by providing waste disposal, creating jobs, and stimulating business growth.

Strengthening Unity through the Three Seas Initiative

The Three Seas Initiative, launched in 2015 by Poland and Croatia, unites 13 countries to strengthen EU and Euro-Atlantic unity. The 4th Congress showcased successful projects like SIreNERGY and fostered collaboration.

Energy Communities (EC) in Sweden

On April 11 Energikontor Syd arranged a half-day stakeholder-meeting in Karlskrona. 15 persons attended from a variety of organisations such as the Region, Coompanion (supporting cooperative initiatives), municipalities.

SIreNERGY engaged in energy community cluster meeting

Policy Learning Platform facilitated a dynamic online discourse on April 9, 2024, centering on the energy community project cluster meeting. The event highlighted presentations from four initiatives: ShareRES, LEEWAY, REC4EU, and SIreNERGY.

Storytelling about the Study Visit in Blekinge Region

In February, our journey continued with our second project study visit in Blekinge Region, guided by Energikontor SYD, our Swedish partner. We discovered a landscape filled with outstanding practices in utilizing renewable energy sources.

Blekinge Offshore's sustainable resurgence

In 2022 Blekinge Offshore's project resurfaced, addressing defense interests and technological advancements. With a smaller area and fewer turbines, the project aims to generate 4.3 TWh/year, backed by strong local support.

The Blekinge Vindkraft Association (BV) was established in 2000 to buy Freja wind turbine in Olsäng wind power plant .

Gullberna's Green Shift: Heat to Power with ORC

The construction of the heating network in the Karlskrona district began in 1990. The Gullberna heat plant is one of the three district heating plants owned by the local energy company Affärsverken Karlskrona AB.

Karlskrona Solpark: Landfill to Light

In a landfill near the city, the local energy company Affärsverken has constructed a large photovoltaic solar plant.
