Project summary
Europeans lifestyle is increasingly demanding: people are subject to high levels of stress, facing difficulties in conciliating work and personal/family life, facing also an ever-deeper gap in younger and older generations relationship. Youngsters, in particular, are becoming more and more focused on themselves and more likely to establish relationships through social networks and virtual environments.
Someway, social values are in risk to be lost with an important impact on the individuals health, more prone to chronical diseases, obesity, mental health problems (anxiety, depression…).
Adding to that, the average life expectancy is increasing, thus requiring from the public administration a more efficient healthcare system which makes of illness prevention the core stone of the resilience of the local communities.
Sports, especially community sports, are starting to be understood by the public administration as a powerful tool not only to generate physical resilience and foster marginalized communities inclusion, but also as a promoter of mental and community resilience. Thus, a powerful tool to address the challenges described.
In this context, incorporating community sports into regional development policies seems essential to create healthier, more cohesive and economically vibrant communities.
By leveraging the broad-ranging benefits of sports, policymakers can significantly enhance the resilience and sustainability of regions, ensuring better quality of life for residents and more robust regional growth.
That's why SCORE project will support European local and regional policymakers in strengthening the effectiveness of Community sports for heath resilience in the framework of their current policies and strategies.
Through SCORE, policymakers of different parts of Europe will have the opportunity to learn from each other practices and experiences to better uptake the potential of community sports as key contributor to the health resilience of their territories.
