Project summary
The Smart Tour project is about developing & promoting policies on "Smart Tourism" (ST), that responds to new challenges & demands in a fast-changing sector, including the evolution of digital tools, products & services; equal opportunity & access for all visitors; sustainable development of the local area; & support to creative industries, local talent & heritage. Also, the transition towards "Smart Destinations" (SDs) that lead to the next generation of tourism: a SD being one with a strategy for technology, innovation, sustainability, accessibility & inclusivity along the entire tourism cycle: before, during & after the trip; with residents as well as tourists in mind, factoring multilingualism, cultural idiosyncrasies & seasonality into tourism planning.
In particular, digitalisation aspects of ST (digital services to travellers) & SDs (digital infrastructure & networks) to be included in relevant policies & strategies of the partners' tourist destinations.
The project focuses on ST & SD development & promotion of relevant policies, contributing to a Smarter Europe, particularly through the digital transition of European tourism destinations, according to the EU 'Transition Pathway for Tourism' (TPT) & its co-implementation framework.
