Project summary
Creative and Cultural Industries (CCIs) stand at the crossroads of economic growth and social evolution, playing a pivotal role in fostering pluralism, social cohesion and community empowerment.
But how can public policy help drive CCIs contribution to this multi-faceted development?
PROSPERO supports a wide partnership of public authorities in ensuring that CCIs helps to make our regions:
• Inclusive and socially resilient: ensuring that CCIs help to combat exclusion and vulnerability and drive talent and new jobs.
• Sustainable: making CCI more sustainable, using CCI for green growth and applying the NEB vision locally.
• Smarter: supporting positive change in how digitalisation affects access to cultural products and services and how CCIs interact with changing technologies.
Economic importance of CCIs is well documented, but contribution to prosperity does not stop there. In line with the Cohesion objective for a more social Europe, the EU’s Industrial Strategy and Work Plan for Culture, CCIs feed into employment, inclusion, innovation and environmental goals. The key lies in creating appropriate policy support, for today and with a future-orientated approach.
PROSPERO has the overall aim to put CCIs at the centre of sustainable and dynamic regional development, thus boosting socio-economic and environmental well-being.
PROSPERO leads to improved policy frameworks and real impact in 6 EU and 1 EU-candidate countries, to concrete changes in:
• Strategic decisions and revisions: PROSPERO comes when strategies are being evaluated and revised. It can feed into measures to integrate CCIs with other social, economic and environmental policy goals. This sets a formal, consolidated context to strengthen CCI hubs in each territory and to direct investments.
• Funding: directing resources to new CCI projects and integrated initiatives, which support CCIs’ contribution to prosperity, benefiting all who work and live in the region, including the most vulnerable groups.
