Silvia Gastaldo Presenting Pieve di Soligo Policy improvements

The Municipality of Pieve di Soligo has achieved a significant milestone within the European VIADUCT project, becoming the first partner to successfully implement its own policy instruments. This accomplishment marks a critical step forward in enhancing public research valorisation and promoting knowledge transfer through the creation of spin-offs.

VIADUCT is an initiative that brings together seven regions across seven European countries, aiming to foster interregional collaboration and develop innovative policies: OTRI Universidad de Zaragoza (TTO), West Regional Development Agency (West RDA), SATT Conectus, The Council of Tampere Region / Pirkanmaan liitto, Tech-Park Kaunas, Western Development Commission, Comune di Pieve di Soligo, and ASTP. The project seeks to facilitate the commercialisation of public research results, support the creation of new businesses, and strengthen the innovation ecosystem.

In early February 2025, a delegation from Pieve di Soligo, along with stakeholders including the UNESCO Association of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, the Francesco Fabbri Foundation, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and Strategy Innovation Srl, participated in the fourth Interregional Meeting in Strasbourg. During this event, Pieve di Soligo presented its "Initiation of Extra-Agricultural Activities" initiative, a public call approved by the Veneto Region and co-financed with EAFRD funds. This initiative drew inspiration from the "Innovation Voucher" case study of the Western Romania Development Agency, a VIADUCT project partner.

The public call, open from June to October 2024, aimed to support the establishment of commercial, artisanal, and service enterprises, marking a departure from traditional tourism-focused development. The initiative received 75 applications, reflecting the entrepreneurial vitality of the region.

Mayor Stefano Soldan highlighted the importance of this achievement, stating that it showcases the benefits of collaborative efforts with stakeholders, bringing tangible advantages to local businesses and the community. Giuseppe Carlet, President of GAL Alta Marca, emphasized that this experimental initiative signifies a vibrant entrepreneurial landscape beyond tourism development.

Pieve di Soligo's active participation in the VIADUCT project demonstrates how local administrations can play a pivotal role in facilitating knowledge transfer and creating an environment conducive to new business development. This success serves as a model for other European regions striving to promote innovation and sustainable growth.
