In the heart of Budapest, on January 22nd and 23rd, 2024, the inaugural event of the BrAIn (BRinging Artificial INtelligence towards SMEs) project unfolded, organized by Pannon Business Network. PBN, as the project's lead partner, received the prestigious Flagship Certification during the event, presented by the Danube Region Strategy Priority Area 8 in collaboration with the Danube Strategy Point. The meeting brought together 11 partners from 10 countries, marking a significant milestone for the initiative.

Funded under the Interreg Danube Region Programme, the primary aim of the BrAIn project is to address a crucial challenge – enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Danube region. This is to be achieved by acquainting them with the significance and possibilities of the foundational technologies of artificial intelligence (AI) and by equipping key stakeholders with the skills necessary for Industry 5.0, fostering the development of a sustainable, human-centric, and flexible industry in the Danube region.

The project unfolds against the backdrop of Industry 5.0, emphasizing the importance of integrating AI into various aspects of business operations. The organizers aim to achieve their goal by facilitating the technological transfer of innovative AI solutions in key areas, thereby mitigating the negative impacts of challenges within the value chain.

One of the project's highlights was the presentation of the Flagship Certification to the PBN, acknowledging their pivotal role in leading the collaborative effort. This certification not only signifies recognition within the Danube Region Strategy but also emphasizes the commitment to ushering in a new era of technological advancement and business innovation.

With representatives from 10 countries participating, the event served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The diverse expertise brought to the table by each partner promises a multifaceted approach to addressing the challenges faced by SMEs in the Danube region.

BrAIn project stands as a beacon for fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing in the realm of artificial intelligence. By empowering SMEs with the tools and knowledge necessary to embrace AI technologies, the initiative strives to reshape the industrial landscape of the Danube region. As the project progresses, it is anticipated that the adoption of AI will not only enhance the competitiveness of SMEs but also contribute to the overall economic development and sustainability of the region.

In conclusion, the BrAIn project launch marks a significant step toward a future where SMEs in the Danube region are at the forefront of technological innovation. As the project unfolds over the coming years, the collaborative efforts of the participating nations are poised to make a lasting impact on the integration of artificial intelligence into the fabric of businesses, fostering a resilient and forward-thinking industrial ecosystem in the heart of Europe.
