Sharing knowledge on Climate Adaptation Meeting, Bremen
The project partner Free Hanseatic City of Bremen presented NACAO at the 8th interdepartmental working group on climate adaptation 2023. The principal investigator of the Bremen NACAO sub-project, Dr. Jasper Meya, highlighted potential synergies between nature-based climate change mitigation and adaptation. The benefits from unsealing of soil for climate adaptation (e.g. cooling, water retention) were exemplified. Moreover, the positive effects of measure for improved water retention in the landscape not only for carbon sequestration but also for adapting ecosystems to changing climate conditions and more frequent extreme weather events were discussed.
