This pilot action aims to provide comprehensive support to SMEs in Brandenburg and Vlora in navigating the requirements of the CSRD. A key component is to conduct a thorough needs assessment to understand the specific challenges and requirements of local SMEs in sustainability reporting. This will be achieved through a survey designed to gather insights into SMEs' sustainability awareness, practices and support needs. Based on the results of the needs assessment, tailored communication tools and strategies will be developed to effectively engage and communicate with SMEs on CSRD compliance and sustainability reporting. These tools will include targeted messaging and outreach approaches that resonate with the local business community. The developed communication tools and strategies will then be implemented through regional outreach campaigns and awareness raising activities. Feedback and survey data from participating SMEs will be analysed to evaluate the effectiveness of the pilot's approach, allowing for adaptation and refinement of the communication strategies as needed. To ensure the transferability and replication potential of the pilot, its success factors, challenges and potential adaptations for other regions will be assessed. In addition, the applicability of the study design and methodology for replication in different contexts or sectors will be assessed. Relevant sectors or clusters of SMEs that could benefit from tailored CSRD support initiatives will also be identified. Ultimately, this pilot action aims to contribute to building a resilient, responsible and energy efficient business ecosystem in Brandenburg and Vlora by supporting SMEs in sustainability reporting and practices. The pilot results, lessons learned and replication strategies will be shared with the project partners, enriching the overall interregional exchange of knowledge and expertise.
