Ambassadors engage with the Interreg Europe project VIOLET—preserve traditional buiLdings through Energy reduction—locally, regionally, nationally and at EU levels throughout the project lifetime to leverage VIOLET policy recommendations and thus ensure the adoption of the VIOLET approach. The Ambassadors are a foremost feature in the communication and dissemination of project outputs to assure VIOLET produces long-term effects. The VIOLET Ambassadors form a trans-European ambassadors’ network to provide lasting results that will extend well beyond the project’s completion.

ALICIA MARTÍNEZ 



General Secretary for Housing

(Regional Ministry of Development, Infrastructures and Territorial Planning)

Architect ALICIA MARTÍNEZ, specialised in urban planning, by the School of Architecture of Sevilla, in 1989.  Working initially as a free lance architect for her own firm carrying out competitions, publications, projects and works for both public and private initiative. During her collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Culture, she worked for the Department of Culture-General Directorate of Cultural Assets of Andalusia on the documentation and systematization of the Historical Heritage rehabilitation works in Andalusia. This work was published in 2000.

From 1991 until 2002 she obtained the first position in the competitive examination for the provincial council working as a career civil servant, Architect; carrying out works for some Sevillian town councils’ equipment's such as Consistorial Houses, cultural buildings and Sports Facilities and the Rehabilitation of buildings and Historical Heritage.

Alicia started her political career in 2002 as an Independent, then from 2004 within the Popular Party. She has always been involved in the field of Urban Planning, Housing and Heritage Conservation, and also became a member of the Board of Trustees of the Real Alcázar de Sevilla.  Since the beginning of 2019 she has the position as the General Secretary for Housing within the Regional Ministry of Development, Infrastructures and Territorial Planning.



Nicos Hadjinicolaou


Industrial Extension Officer

(Energy Service of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry)

Mr NICOS HADJINICOLAOU is a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Science (MS) in Engineering & Master in Public Sector Management.

He is dedicated to promoting energy efficiency in buildings in order to make the national building stock more economically viable and environmentally friendly. He is the national expert of Cyprus at the Energy Performance of Buildings Committee of the European Commission, which has the responsibility of monitoring the implementation of Directive 2010/31/EU for the Energy Performance of Buildings at Member States.

Nicos is also the national coordinator of Cyprus at the European program “Concerted Action for the Transposition and Implementation of Directive 2010/31/EU”. He is a representative of the Energy Service, and the chairman of the statutory national committees for implementing the Directive 2010/31/EU in Cyprus and for promoting Nearly Zero Energy Buildings.
