Webinar: Advancing Hydrogen Valleys
On 6 May 2025, the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform is hosting a webinar on Advancing Hydrogen Valleys. The transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy requires integrated and strategic approaches to energy innovation and industrial transformation. Hydrogen valleys are becoming key drivers of sustainable industrial development—bringing together innovation, investment, and regional cooperation.
By leveraging Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3), interregional complementarities, and tailored governance frameworks, hydrogen valleys can drive economic growth while contributing to climate neutrality.
This webinar will bring together policymakers and regional development stakeholders to explore how hydrogen valleys/ecosystems can be effectively developed and scaled:
- Eng. Barbara Monaco, from AREA Science Park in Italy will deliver a keynote speech on the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley.
- Máximo Arias Day, from Institut Balear de l’Energia in Mallorca Island,representing the Spanish partner of the “UNLOCK – Unlocking Green Hydrogen Economy for SMEs in European Regions” project, will discuss public-private collaboration.
- Francisco Vigalondo from Aragon Region in Spain will discuss the European Hydrogen Valleys S3 Partnership.
The webinar aims to:
- Introduce the hydrogen valley concept and its role in the green industrial transformation, emphasising its alignment with regional S3 strategies.
- Discuss interregional complementarities, highlighting how different regions can collaborate to optimise resources, infrastructure, and innovation potential for hydrogen-based value chains.
