Mallorca's Green Hydrogen Initiative Featured in Interreg Europe Webinar on Advancing Hydrogen Valleys

On 6 May 2025, Mallorca's effort to build a comprehensive green hydrogen ecosystem and roadmap through the GreenHysland project was showcased during the Interreg Europe webinar Advancing Hydrogen Valleys, hosted by the Policy Learning Platform.

This initiative was presented by a representative of the Institut Balear de l’Energia (IBE), the good practice owner and Associated Policy Authority of the Consell de Mallorca in the UNLOCK project. It had been identified as an Interreg Europe good practice by the group of UNLOCK stakeholders of the Consell de Mallorca as a result of its local collaboration.

Máximo Arias Day (IBE) highlighted key enablers such as inter-institutional cooperation and a public-private collaboration and explained IBE's ongoing efforts to develop a comprehensive green hydrogen roadmap for the island that integrates the perspectives of all relevant actors, including citizens and SMEs.

The webinar also featured contributions from other European regions and initiatives actively developing hydrogen solutions and concluded with a moderated discussion. The event brought together policymakers and regional stakeholders, underlining the the strategic role of hydrogen valleys in Europe’s green industrial transformation and climate neutrality goals.
