Partner presentation: The Southeast Energy Agency (EI)

Presentation of your organiation
The Southeast Energy Agency (SEEA) is the regional energy agency for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Waterford Counties in Ireland, dedicated to advancing the sustainable use of clean energy. Our vision is to drive the transition to sustainable energy in the Southeast, fostering low-carbon homes, jobs, and enterprises. By partnering with local authorities, communities, and businesses, we implement energy-saving initiatives and support long-term energy transformation.
Why is your organisation a partner in UNIFHY?
UNIFHY aligns with our goal of enabling a sustainable energy future by exploring the potential of hydrogen as a local energy solution. Waterford County Council has identified hydrogen as a strategic opportunity to decarbonize industry and transport, with strong potential for biogas production. However, challenges such as network constraints and policy gaps need to be addressed. This project provides a platform to assess feasibility, collaborate on solutions, and contribute to the development of a regional hydrogen ecosystem.
How does your organisation contribute to the UNIFHY project?
Our role in the project includes evaluating the biogas-to-hydrogen potential, supporting feasibility studies, and helping to identify pathways for policy and infrastructure development. We bring experience in energy project implementation and aim to facilitate knowledge-sharing and stakeholder engagement to turn ideas into action.
What do you expect as an outcome of the UNIFHY project?
Through UNIFHY, we hope to contribute to shaping policies that make hydrogen a viable energy source for Waterford and the broader Southeast.
