EXPOENERGEA: the key energy event in Extremadura (ES)
From November 27th to 29th, EXPOENERGEA, the leading energy fair in Extremadura, solidified its position as the primary meeting point for professionals from the energy sector. Organized by the Extremadura Energy Agency (AGENEX), the lead partner of the UNIFHY project, and the Extremadura Energy Cluster, the fair brought together a large number of experts and key actors from the industry and academia to discuss the latest trends in sustainable technologies and renewable energy.
EXPOENERGEA stood out by providing a unique platform for showcasing new technological solutions and exchanging knowledge about energy transition and sustainability. Over the course of the three-day event, key topics regarding the future of energy in the region were addressed, such as the decarbonization of key sectors through the use of biogas and the integration of green hydrogen as an alternative to fossil fuels.
In this context, the UNIFHY project was highlighted and promoted. AGENEX engaged in discussions about the regulatory frameworks necessary to advance these technologies, as well as public policies that could stimulate investment in research and the development of new skills.
Expert insight: Fernando Valladares
The event featured a talk by Fernando Valladares, renowned climate scientist at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and one of Spain's leading environmental experts. Valladares shared his insights on the urgency of addressing climate challenges and the need for businesses to adopt models that prioritize sustainability.
He stressed that, beyond merely identifying problems, companies need to collaborate to find joint solutions that drive industrial decarbonization. He also emphasized that sustainability is not optional; it is essential for long-term success. Companies that integrate sustainability into their daily operations not only help the planet but also position themselves for future growth.
Sister project: COMMIT
In addition to the valuable exchanges at EXPOENERGEA, the event highlighted synergies between other European initiatives that are helping drive the energy transition in Extremadura. Notably, the COMMIT project, which focuses on supporting SMEs in their transition to a low-carbon economy, shared insights and aligned objectives with those of UNIFHY. Both projects are co-financed by the EU through the Interreg Europe program, reinforcing the collaborative effort to accelerate the region's sustainable energy transformation.
